1930 – Canada’s Percy Williams established a world record of 10.3 seconds for the 100-meter dash at the inaugural British Empire Games. He had already won two gold medals at the 1928 Olympics.

1930 – Betty Boop made her first appearance in the animated cartoon Dizzy Dishes. The character was

modeled after Helen Kane, a famous singer of the 1920s known for her song “I Wanna Be Loved by You,” and Clara Bow, a popular 1920s actress known as the first “It Girl.”

1971 – Leroy “Satchel” Paige, one of baseball’s greatest pitching legends, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

According to experts, eyebrows are one of the most important features of the human face. When it comes to facial recognition, studies demonstrate that, even more than eyeballs, when eyebrows are removed it is far more difficult to recognize a face. Eyebrows do play a role in keeping sweat, rain, and sun out of our eyes. But more importantly, eyebrows help us communicate. As a highly social species, communication is vital to humans. Eyebrows convey emotions that are both overt and subtle, from anger and surprise to concern and skepticism.

Where Am I?

I stand high in the mountains of South America amidst ruins that are hundreds of years old. No one knows exactly why the 150 different

structures here were built.

The ruins stretch for five miles, and I wander up and down 3,000 stone steps connecting different levels. Was this place the summer estate of a royal family? Or a religious pilgrimage site? I can only guess. Equally mysterious is why the place was abandoned. Was it invaded? Where am I?
