PASTOR'S LETTER
Dear parishioners,
It is with joy that I have served here as a parish priest over the last four years. It is also with great joy that I’m celebrating 25 years of priesthood. It is also a chance for me to acknowledge so many people have helped me and shared with me their their words and wisdom, filled with the Holy Spirit that is the Father’s word, spoken by the Son, through you.
The priesthood has been a blessing for me and helps me grow closer to the Lord, in many ways, especially caring for those persons whose hearts are broken.
God has promised us glory and I have seen it in the faces of parishioners. I have seen this in the faces of children and adults that are baptized, couples married, young people confirmed, and so many people with which I have shared Jesus, hidden under the appearances of bread and wine.
I believe that I have been sent by the Lord, so that each of you can help me become a better priest, and one day enter heaven. It’s just been a great blessing to become a part of this
community and the words of Jesus that they may be one as we are one, become a living reality. Its reality is clear as we are members of a parish family, and dearly love one another.
One of the great choices that has become clear over these past four years is the gift of you, the parishioners. I know that you can bring the message of the gospel to your schools and homes, places of work and play, where you shop and the streets of our community.
My vocation is to support you. I have the
privilege of hearing your confessions, anointing the sick, preaching the gospel, and joining you in different efforts in the parish. I am especially grateful to all the groups that work hard together together as small Christian faith communities. You are so numerous to name, these include the choirs and retreat groups. You have shown me so much love, respect, support and friendship, and I pledge to continue to support you.

Es con alegría que he servido aquí como párroco/cura durante estos cuatro años.
También con gran alegría celebro 25 años de sacerdocio. Y una oportunidad para mí de reconocer a tantas personas que me han
ayudado y compartido conmigo sus palabras y su sabiduría, llenas del Espíritu Santo que es la palabra del Padre, dicha por el Hijo, por ustedes.
El sacerdocio ha sido una bendición para mí y me ayuda a acercarme más al Señor, de muchas maneras, especialmente cuidando a aquellas personas que tienen el corazón quebrado.
Dios nos ha prometido gloria y lo he visto en los rostros de los feligreses. Lo he visto en los niños y adultos que bautizo, parejas que se casan, jóvenes confirmados, y tantas personas con las que he compartido a Jesús, escondido bajo las apariencias del pan y del vino.
Creo que he sido enviado por el Señor, para que cada uno de ustedes me ayude a ser un mejor sacerdote, y un día entrar al cielo. Es por mi bienestar, ha sido una gran bendición ser parte de esta comunidad y las palabras de Jesús de que ellos sean uno como nosotros somos uno, se vuelven una realidad viva. Su realidad es clara ya que somos miembros de una familia parroquial y nos amamos unos a otros.
Una de las grandes opciones que ha quedado clara en estos últimos cuatro años es el regalo de ustedes, feligreses. Sé que pueden llevar el mensaje del evangelio a sus escuelas y hogares, lugares de trabajo y diversión, donde compran y las calles de nuestra comunidad. Ustedes son los ministros del Evangelio, verdaderos misioners.
Mi vocación es apoyarte. Tengo el privilegio de escuchar sus confesiones, ungir a los enfermos, predicar el evangelio y unirme a ustedes en diferentes esfuerzos en la parroquia. Estoy especialmente agradecido con todos los grupos que trabajan arduamente juntos como pequeñas comunidades de fe cristiana. Son tantos para nombrarlos, estos incluyen coros y grupos con retiros. STEWARDSHIP - CO-RESPONSIBILIDAD
Summary of the meeting of the Stewardship Committee on 23 May 2022
We are planning our summer fundraiser the Kermes (carnival), as done in previous years. This is held on the open and large yard of all the
parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago and adjacent to Holy Family Church.
The committee is looking forward to a successful event this summer during the first weekend of August with your help. Planning for this event began with choosing a date and has continued through signing a contract with a carnival ride provider.
A great number details will be attended to during the next few months, so that this is a successful fundraiser for the parish. This is an opportunity for our different parish ministries to work together, towards another common goal, in a spirit of friendship, or fraternity, as suggested by Fratelli Tutti, a recent letter from Pope Francis.
I hope to find parish volunteers to help us planning and operating this event throughout the summer and in August. The stewardship committee has committed to look for sponsors to help us pay the bills for this event.
We are vi rrently selling tickets for a few raffle on June 4, 2022, at the 6 PM mass at Immaculate Conception Church. Money raised is needed to replace the carpeting on the floors of the classrooms in the Saint Joseph Evangelization Retreat Center.
This past weekend the young people from a parish ministry, the Neo-Catechumenate took advantage of a lot of good will in our community to raise funds for a pilgrimage to the holy land next month. There are 14+ youth attending this pilgrimage, and they go to school rather than work. The support of the bread sale is very much appreciated. It was
especially supported by an anonymous family from St. Mary Parish, who wanted to help in our parish parish. It is my hope that helping these young people visit the Holy Land will touch their hearts.
Our business manager and Director of Operations, Marvin Sabido, is always very busy, and writing
grants to support our parish community,
especially the efforts on Eighth Street. Through the Lake County Community Foundation, he recently received a grant for a delivery vehicle for food to families in need of food. There are other grants for this Saint Bart’s campus (Eighth Street), including it making it more secure, and assistance for the gardening efforts, so that we can give our clients the food pantry food from the garden run on our grounds.
Another effort is the bike shop. Terry continues to help to fix our bikes that come to us. The most recent group of bikes will be used to help 13+
graduates at Most Blessed Trinity Academy.

próximo mes. Hay más de 14 jóvenes que asisten a esta peregrinación y van a la escuela en lugar de trabajar. Se agradece mucho el apoyo de la venta de pan. Fue especialmente apoyado por una familia anónima de la Parroquia de St. Mary, que quería ayudar en nuestra parroquia parroquial. Es mi
esperanza que ayudar a estos jóvenes a visitar Tierra Santa toque sus corazones.
Nuestro gerente de negocios y Director de Operaciones, Marvin Sabido, siempre está muy ocupado escribiendo subvenciones para apoyar a nuestra comunidad parroquial, especialmente los esfuerzos en la Calle Ocho.
