La de ser en una categoría de personas de alto riesgo debido a comorbilidades conocidas y diagnosticadas;
La de haber sido recién aconsejado por un médico que todavía no es prudente, en las circunstancias personales e individuales, volver a las actividades públicas;
La de experimentar mucha angustia al pensar en la posibilidad de volver a las actividades públicas;
La de tener síntomas del COVID-19 o de otras enfermedades serias/contagiosas.

Permanent Diaconate Program seeks interested men: The Permanent Diaconate has been present in the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama since 1973. With the arrival of Bishop Steven Raica in 2020, and at his
direction, the Office of the Permanent Diaconate is looking to identify men who are interested in the Permanent Diaconate for the next formation class. Although the date for the start of the new class has not been set by Bishop Raica, the Office of the Permanent Diaconate will begin to develop a list of men who are interested in obtaining more information about the formation process. It is hoped that once the current restrictions have been relaxed, and after
additional review by Bishop Raica, there will be informational sessions and an opportunity for men, and their wives, to learn more about the Permanent Diaconate and the formation process in the future.
Men who are interested in the Permanent Diaconate can contact Deacon Chris Rosko via email at [email protected].
Cessation of the Dispensation
Due to COVID-19
Beginning this Monday, May 24, 2021, all Roman Catholics residing or visiting and present in the diocese of Birmingham in Alabama shall again be subject to the precept of assisting at Holy mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation,
notwithstanding the ordinary reasons why one’s obligations may be excused.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church, at
paragraph 2181, teaches that “the Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin.” In relation to COVID-19, a “serious reason” could include:
Being in a high risk category due to known, diagnosed co-morbidities;
Being recently advised by a medical doctor that it is not yet safe in your specific circumstances to return to public activities;
Experiencing a high amount of mental distress over the prospect of returning to public
activities;
Having symptoms of COVID-19 or of another serious/contagious illness.
Locations for Confessions
Following the recent Diocesan Liturgical Protocols from the Office of Sacred Liturgy, confessions will be heard in the Reconciliation Room in the church before all noon and evening weekday Masses and the Saturday evening and the last two Sunday Masses. All weekday confessions before the 9:00 AM Mass and those during the priests’ office hours will remain in the Church Library.
Fr. Victor: 1-5 PM Mondays & Wednesdays
Fr. Merrill: 2-6 PM Tuesdays & Thursdays
Stewardship
After the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles with fire and wind; they were never the same again. They gave their lives fully to the Lord. In our baptism, the Holy Spirit also came down upon us in sacramental signs. From then on have we been managing our life and life’s resources for His purposes?
