HOLY WEEK – Today, Palm Sunday, we begin the most solemn week in the Christian year. During this week we will commemorate once more the saving mysteries of our redemption: The Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Church’s Liturgy is always a great teacher but never more so than during this week. Having been renewed by the graces of Lent, we now urge you to make this coming week truly holy by participating fully in the various liturgies which are so rich in content. Please plan on the following:

PENANCE SERVICE – We will be having our annual Lenten Penance Service on Monday 29^th thru Wednesday, 31^st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A holy Confession is the absolute best way to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity!

HOLY THURSDAY – On this day we recall the institution of the two great Sacraments of Holy Orders and the Most Holy Eucharist during the Last Supper of Jesus. Our

Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 6:30 p.m. Although this year, due to the covid restrictions, we cannot have the traditional Washing of the Feet, the Liturgy itself is very beautiful. At the end of the Mass, we would ordinarily have a Eucharistic Procession but that is also not allowed this year.

GOOD FRIDAY – This most solemn day commemorates the Passion and Death of Jesus on the cross for our salvation. Our Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will take place at 5:00 p.m. in English and 7:00 p.m. in Spanish.

EASTER! – Our celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord commences with the Solemn Easter Vigil which will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3rd. It will be outside in the parking lot with the blessing of the Easter Fire. During this Mass, our catechumens will receive the Sacraments of Initiation. This is the most solemn Liturgy of the Church’s entire year.

On Easter Sunday we rejoice in the Risen Lord! Join your fellow parishioners in worship during our regular scheduled Sunday Masses. 7:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m. (English), 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Finally, together with Fr. Tesfaldet, Fr. Tesfy, Fr. George, Fr. Reynaldo and the entire Parish Staff, we wish all of you a most blessed and joyful Easter! May the Risen Lord bless you and your family!

SEMANA SANTA – Hoy, Domingo de Ramos, comenzamos la semana más solemne del año cristiano. Durante esta semana conmemoraremos una vez más los misterios salvadores de nuestra redención: La Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. La liturgia de la Iglesia es siempre una gran maestra, pero nunca más que durante esta semana. Habiendo sido renovados por las gracias de la Cuaresma, ahora les exhortamos a hacer esta semana que viene verdaderamente santa participando plenamente en las diversas liturgias que son tan ricas en contenido. Por favor, planifique lo siguiente:

SERVICIO DE PENITENCIA – Tendremos nuestro Servicio de Penitencia Cuaresmal anual del lunes 29 al miércoles 31 a partir de las 5:00 p.m. hasta las 8:00 p.m.

Aunque este año, debido a las restricciones del covid, no podemos tener el tradicional Lavatorio de Pies, la liturgia en sí es muy hermosa. Al final de la Misa, normalmente tendríamos una Procesión Eucarística, pero eso tampoco está permitido este año.

VIERNES SANTO – Este día solemne conmemora la Pasión y Muerte de Jesús en la cruz por nuestra salvación. Nuestra Misa vespertina de la Cena del Señor se llevará a cabo a las 5:00 p.m. en inglés y 7:00 p.m. en español.

¡PASCUA! – Nuestra celebración de la Resurrección del Señor comienza con la Solemne Vigilia Pascual que se celebrará a las 17:00 horas. el sábado 3 de abril. Estará afuera en el estacionamiento con la bendición del Fuego de Pascua. Durante esta Misa, nuestros catecúmenos recibirán los sacramentos de iniciación. Esta es la liturgia más solemne de todo el año de la Iglesia.

the depths and to the heights.

It begins with a harsh juxtaposition, as we carry palms in remembrance of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem and then listen to the Passion according to Matthew, as the King is handed over for crucifixion. Then, on Holy Thursday, we remember the night Jesus was handed over—the night he gave himself for us and to us, to live in our midst forever in the sacrament of his Body and Blood. On Good Friday, we touch with our hands the mystery of the Lord’s cross, the instrument of torture that has become the tree of life. Then, at the great Easter Vigil, the lighting of the paschal candle speaks to us of the triumph of light over darkness, of life over death.

The resurrection of the Lord becomes a living reality in our midst as the catechumens for whom the Church has prayed throughout Lent are plunged into the mystery of Christ’s death and share in the glory of his resurrection. These are indeed holy days, the culmination of the Church’s liturgy, and an invitation to participate in the very life of Christ. Come, let us worship.

La Semana Santa es la culminación del año litúrgico.

Durante estos días santos, la liturgia nos llevará, con Jesús, a las profundidades y a las alturas.

Comienza con una dura yuxtaposición, mientras

llevamos las palmas en recuerdo de la entrada triunfal de Cristo en Jerusalén y luego escuchamos la Pasión según Mateo, cuando el Rey es entregado para ser crucificado.

evangelists, he is the one who presents the details most graphically. He depicts the humanity of Jesus most intensely, describing his sufferings thoroughly. Mark portrays Jesus as a complete fulfillment of the “Suffering Servant” of Isaiah, the obedient, humble slave dying on a cross of whom Paul speaks in Philippians. But it is important to remember that we call this “Holy Week” and not “sad week” or “suffering week,” for each of the readings today, even the lamentations of the psalm, end in the promise of the strength and hope that is granted by God to those who faithfully give of themselves in love. As we enter into this week through these readings, we must reflect deeply on the sufferings of Jesus, but still be confident in the joy of risen, eternal life that awaits all of us who faithfully walk with him through these days.

Por el Evangelio del Domingo de Ramos, volvemos al Evangelio según San Marcos. El relato de la Pasión ocupa casi un tercio de todo el Evangelio según Marcos y, de todos los evangelistas, él es quien presenta los detalles más gráficos. Marcos representa la humanidad de Jesús con mayor intensidad, describiendo sus sufrimientos a fondo. Presenta a Jesús como el

cumplimiento completo del “Siervo sufriente” de Isaías, el esclavo humilde y obediente que muere en la cruz y de quien Pablo habla a los filipenses. Pero es importante recordar que a esto lo llamamos “Semana Santa” y no
