St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church is dedicated to continuing the mission of Jesus Christ in the Franciscan tradition. We are people of many nations united by God’s Holy Spirit, who strive to be witnesses of God’s love to all people. National Make a Difference to Children Month

. Every child has a right to education. We can make a difference by equipping impoverished chil-dren for the upcoming school year. Please consider purchasing a backpack and filling it with school supplies (pencils, pens, 3_-ring binders, spiral notebooks, loose leaf paper, crayons, children’s scissors, rulers, glue sticks, highlighters, pocket folders, etc.). Additionally, we are collecting books (new and used) for pre-school through grade 12, so each child can have a book to take home. All donations will be appreciated! Place donation in the box marked “School Sup-plies” in the Founders’ Hall_—donations due by Sunday, July 23.

♦ Tuesday, August 1 - Social Justice Committee & parishioner volunteers dis-tribute the school supplies to needy supplies.

WE RECYCLE! Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays to help pick up recyclable material from the Church and SVDP to deliver to the local recycle center. A pickup truck or van is necessary to pick up and deliver cardboard re-cyclables from SVDP. All parishioners are reminded to use the blue recycle bins throughout the parish for recycling (not for garbage)! Contact Lorraine Miller for more information or to volunteer ([email protected]).

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

will take place from July 24—28 for children in

Kindergarten to rising 5th graders. Sessions will be from 9:15am_—12:15pm. Our

VBS theme this year is “Maker Fun Factory” where kids will discover not only that

God made them the way they are, but for a purpose, too. VBS is filled with Bible learning experiences, team building games, Bible songs, and tasty treats. Register in

the Religious Education office Monday_—Thursday (9:30am_-2:00pm) or Sundays

(10:30am-1:30pm)

messages. Please speak slowly and clearly when imparting information either to the person answering the phone or to the

voice message recording after hours. If possible, please spell your name and repeat the phone number twice for a call

back. If at all possible, please refrain from using speaker phones—many times it leaves an echo making the message

Personal Information Updates

: Please keep the Parish Office updated on changes of address, phone numbers, or other family changes. Parishioners who drop landlines and use their cells as primary seems to be the biggest problem we face. Additionally, when an individual becomes of legal age, they should be reg-istered in the Parish under their own record and not under the parents’ (even if still living with parents).

Preschool News: We are now accepting registrations for the 2017-2018 school year, which

begins August 21st. The Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out (MMO) are four hour programs:

9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Please stop by the preschool office, which is located downstairs in the

Hart-mayer Education Building, and pick up a registration form, call 770-478-0178 x115 for more
