ANOINTING OF THE SICK

The Anointing of the Sick is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. (CCC 1514)

If a person is in need of Anointing of the Sick, please call the parish office for a priest at 602-242-1300.

If the parish office is closed and there is an immediate danger of death, please call the after-hours emergency number at 602-246-3534. The after-hours number may only be used for life and death emergencies.

Today is the fifth Sunday of the month and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be outside the doors of the Church begging for alms for the poor. You will recognize these Vincentians with their “Blue Buckets” and big smiles asking for your support for our poor neighbors. With the donations which you so generously give, we are able to buy food for those folks living in poverty who come to us for food boxes. We also help some families who are in great need of utility assistance. Please continue to bring the bags of food with you to Church since it makes a great difference to families who are in need of food for their children.

Thank you so much for your love and generous support. God bless you and your families for proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven!

SS. Simon and Jude Cathedral School Christian Service Award winners

CONGRATULATIONS to 8th graders Matthew Tanner, Benjamin Aguilar, Seamus Simmons, Bianca Luna, Rian Mercado, and Embrey Saville, who were selected as

recipients of Christian Service Award scholarships provided by the Catholic Community Foundation.

These scholarships are available to 8th graders who are planning to attend a Catholic high school. This year, there were 142 applications for 34 available awards.

These students were selected for their service to SSJ school and parish as well as the community at large. We pray that their service to school, parish and community will be the beginning of a life-long commitment to servant leadership. We are SO PROUD OF YOU!!

Ganadores del Premio de Servicio Cristiano de la Escuela Catedral de Simon y Judas

FELICITACIONES a los alumnos de octavo grado, Matthew Tanner, Benjamín Aguilar, Seamus Simmons, Bianca Luna, Rian Mercado y Embrey Saville, quienes fueron seleccionados como becarios de la Fundacion Servicio Cristiano. Estas becas están disponibles para estudiantes de octavo grado que están planeando asistir a una escuela secundaria católica.

Este año, hubo 142 solicitudes para 34 premios disponibles.

Hoy es el quinto domingo del mes y la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl estará fuera de las puertas de la Iglesia pidiendo limosna para los pobres.

Reconocerás a estos Vicentinos con sus "Cubetas Azules" y grandes sonrisas pidiendo tu apoyo a nuestros vecinos pobres. Con las donaciones que tan generosamente das, somos capaces de comprar comida para aquellas personas que viven en la pobreza que vienen a nosotros por cajas de comida. También ayudamos a algunas familias que están en gran necesidad de ayuda con las utilidades. Por favor continúe trayendo las bolsas de comida con usted a la Iglesia ya que esto hace una gran diferencia para las familias que necesitan comida para sus hijos.
