Dios ha confiado el cuidado de la creación a los seres hu- manos. Estamos llamados a cultivar y a ser sabios guar- dianes de la tierra, a administrar bien sus recursos y a cui- dar respetuosamente a las criaturas de la tierra.

En la encíclica “Laudato si”; el papa Francisco nos invita a comprender más profundamente nuestra relación con Dios, entre unos y otros y con el resto de la creación y a vivir como corresponde.

- A veces, los esfuerzos que buscan proteger el medio ambien- te y otras criaturas ignoran o incluso atacan la dignidad particu- lar de los seres humanos.

-Si estamos llenos del amor de Dios, comenzará a florecer una cultura de encuentro y solidaridad. El Papa Francisco subraya,

"Estamos hablando de una actitud del corazón, que vive todo con serena atención, que sabe estar plenamente presente ante alguien sin estar pensando en lo que viene después". Con esta actitud del corazón, ni tratamos a otros seres humanos como desechables ni desatendemos ninguna dimensión de la creación de Dios.

Hospitalized Parishioners and Shut-Ins: Please call the Parish office if someone in your family is hospitalized or a shut-in. If a parishioner is not able to attend Mass, the priest and/or Eucharistic Ministers can bring Communion to the home.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA) Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Are you a baptized Christian who wants to become Catholic? Are you a baptized Catholic in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation? Our RCIA program offers an opportunity to come together in a small group setting to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and expe- rience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist dur- ing the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. Sessions begin this September and are usually held at St. Pius X School of St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish (Brookline). FAMILY HOLY HOUR–every 3rd Monday of the Month Holy Half Hour from 11-11:30 at SPX school Chapel. This is a great opportunity to show your children the power of Jesus in the Eucharist and spend time in prayer together. The next family Holy Hour will be on Monday, September 20.

Mary’s Place is a maternity home started by lay Catholics several years ago. It that provides support for pregnant and

Reserve a copy of the cookbook by calling the parish office. Cost is $20.

Walking with Moms Ar e you a new mom? Or do you know someone who has just had a baby? Our parish would love to reach out to support them with a couple of meals. There are no requirements, no need to be a parishioner or low income. Just a couple of meals to help make early days easier. If you know a new mom, please call the office and give us their name and phone number so we can set up a date for a “special delivery”!

At this time we cannot leave Resurrection church open dur- ing the day. The Sacristies do not lock and people can enter

the hall and all areas of the property that are not secure. CALLING ALL BAKERS—We’re in need of home- made goodies for our Indoor Carnival on September 25.

Please drop off any baked goods on Friday, September 24, before 3pm at the parish office, or at St. Catherine

Social Hall on Saturday, September 25, before 4pm.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

Our annual Help Thy Neighbor Drive will be taking place after all Masses on the weekend of September 25th/26th, and the weekend of October 2nd/3rd. We will be selling raffle tickets (purchase price is $5.00). All proceeds benefit the poor of the Brookline/

Beechview area. Thank you for your generous support.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Thank you to those who have completed the newly required Protecting God’s Children Maltreatment 3.2 Including Vulnerable Adults training. There are still many volunteers who need to complete this free, on-line session to be compli- ant with the Diocesan Safe Environment requirements. If you are a Parish Volunteer in ANY ministry, please call the Safe Environment Office at 412-563-0858 to see if you are required to complete the training, or to learn how to access this training.

PARISH EXERCISE GROUP—Come join in a low impact, friendly workout that will exercise both mind and body! We will meet Friday mornings after the 8AM Mass at St. Pius X, starting October 1st. Please wear sensible shoes, bring water and any hand weights and or exercise bands with you. We will gather in the gym starting at 8:45AM. Work out starts at 9AM. Looking forward to seeing you! THE PENNSYLVANIA MARCH FOR LIFE will be held on Monday, September 27, in Harrisburg. The rally starts at 11am at the Capitol Building and the March follows at noon. There is a bus going from St. Anne’s/St.
