Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME  NOVEMBER 13, 2016

TRIGÉSIMO TERCER DOMINGO DE TIEMPO ORDINARIO  13 DE NOVIEMBRE, 2016 TRENTADUESIMA DOMENICA DEL TEMPO ORDINARIO  13 DI NOVEMBRE, 2016

“You know how one must imitate us. For we did not act in a disorderly way among you, nor did we eat food received from anyone… We wanted to present ourselves as a model for you, so that you might imitate us, In fact, while we were with you, we instructed you that if

anyone was unwilling to work neither should that one eat.” An overused expression these days is ‘role model.’ It often is cited when someone has failed to give the

right example or falls from grace. While we have countless persons who really provide setting a good example, we sometimes fail to use role model to describe them. Paul not only presented himself as a fine example, he invited others to imitate him. ‘Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.’ Consider some of our great saints of former times. Francis, Ignatius, Teresa. Consider recently canonized saints as St. Pope John 23rd, St. John Paul II. Consider Katherine Drexel or Teresa. Each offers some gift to imitate resulting in holiness. Pray to and for those whose causes are being promoted, like Dorothy Day, Oscar Romero. Look in a mirror to see the reflection of a saint in the making.

“Porque ustedes ya saben cómo deben seguir nuestro ejemplo. Cuando estábamos entre ustedes, no vivíamos como holgazanes, y nadie nos regalaba

el pan que comíamos… queríamos darles un ejemplo para imitar. En aquella ocasión les impusimos esta regla: el que no quiera trabajar, que no coma.” Una expresión muy utilizada hoy es la de ‘dar ejemplo’. Se cita a menudo cuando

alguien ha fallado en dar el buen ejemplo o cae en desgracia. A pesar de que hay innumerables personas que realmente proveen el buen ejemplo, fallamos en utilizar la expresión al describirlos.

San Pablo no sólo se presenta a sí mismo como un buen ejemplo, sino que invita a otros a imitarlo.

‘La imitación es el mejor elogio’. Considere a algunos de nuestros grandes santos del pasado. Francisco, Ignacio, Teresa. Considere recientemente los santos canonizados como San Juan XXIII, San

Juan Pablo II. Considere a Santa Catalina de Drexel o a Santa Teresa. Cada uno ofrece algún don que al imitar resulta en santidad. Ore a y por aquellos cuya causa estamos promoviendo, como Dorothy Day, Oscar Romero. Mire en un espejo y vea el reflejo de un santo en progreso.

Sono manifestazioni della decomposizione del vecchio mondo segnato dal peccato e dalle doglie del parto di nuovi cieli e di una terra nuova. In tutte le pressioni e le estorsioni esercitate sulla Chiesa, noi non dovremmo vedere qualche cupa tragedia, perché esse purificano la nostra fede e confortano la nostra speranza. Esse sono altrettante occasioni per testimoniare Cristo. Altrimenti il mondo non conoscerebbe il suo Vangelo né la forza del suo amore. Ma un pericolo più grande incombe su di noi: si tratta dei falsi profeti che si fanno passare per Cristo o che parlano in suo nome. Approfittando delle inquietudini e dei rivolgimenti causati dalla storia, i falsi profeti guadagnano alle loro ideologie, alle loro idee pseudo-scientifiche sul mondo e alle loro pseudo-religioni. La vera venuta di Cristo sarà invece così evidente che nessuno ne dubiterà. Gesù incoraggia i suoi discepoli di ogni tempo a rimanere al suo fianco sino alla fine. Egli trasformerà tutte le infelicità, tutti i fallimenti e persino la morte del martire in risurrezione gloriosa e in adorazione.

The Sacrament of Baptism is Celebrated Once a month on Sunday One Sunday in Spanish after the 12:30pm Mass

and One Sunday in English at 2:00PM.

THE NEXT AVAILABLE DATES ARE: November 13th— English Baptisms

November 20th — Spanish Baptisms

Please come to the Parish office at least one month in advance before planning your child’s baptism.

dates and times you wish to reserve a mass. This form will help us facilitate the process.

First Communion Parent Meeting Sunday, November 20th, 2016

The meeting will follow after the 11am Mass. All parents of students who are to receive the Sacrament

of First Communion in May of 2017 are obligated to attend the meeting in order to fulfill all requirements.

will begin a food drive for needy families at Thanksgiving. Non-perishable

food items will be collected. Financial donations placed in an envelope

and marked Food Drive will also be

accepted. Boxes will be available at the entrances to the church for these donations

for the needy. You may also leave your donations at parish rectory office. The last

day to submit your donations will be on
