BAPTISMS * BAUTIZOS
Baptisms take place the 4th Saturday of the month. Parents and both godparents will need to attend the pre-baptismal class prior to the Baptism. Pre-Baptismal classes take place the 2nd Saturday of the month at 04:00 p.m. Pick up a registration form from the office. Bring in Baptism registration form completely filled out, along with a copy of the Birth Certificate to the office, at least a month ahead of the date of desired Baptism.

Dear Parishioners of St. Julia,
I am Fr. Scott McCue, Pastor of St. Thomas More in Chapel Hill and Dean of the Piedmont Deanery. Effective July 29, Bishop Luis Rafael appointed me as Administrator of St. Julia. This is a role that falls to the Dean, who is the Bish-op’s Vicar for a certain area of the Diocese, when there is an interim between the departure of a Pastor and the arrival of a new Pastor=. In this case, I am administrating the parish until
your new Pastor arrives on September 8. ( The official
an-nouncement of your new Pastor should be forthcoming from the diocese soon. ) My role during this time is simply to maintain the status quo and respond to administrative and pastoral needs as they arise. Fr. Jacek arranged for priestly coverage for all the liturgies during the interim and I am grateful for that. Please join me in prayer for Fr. Jacek in his new assignment.

John 6: 24-35• I need to look beyond the day to day needs. That is not to say that I eliminate my concerns to make life more advanced. I must take the time to search for the eter-nal food and etereter-nal life.
• My faith in Jesus, as the gift from God,
the bread of heaven, is critical to my understanding and acceptance of the “gift” that does not pass away; the Bread of Eternal Life.
• Our God is not “out there”. He is within us. And being within us, He is part of our everyday life. I need to re-member that the true meaning of my earthly existence is in eternity. It is in the encounter with Him, who is both gift and giver.
Prayer
Lord, I believe: I wish to believe in You. Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved, and let it penetrate my thought, my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful and give peace and gladness to my spirit, and dispose it for prayer with God and conversa-tion with men, so that the inner bliss of its fortunate pos-session may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation. Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume to be based on the experience of my thought and of my feeling; but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Juan 6:24-35• Necesito mirar más allá de las necesidades del día a día. Eso no quiere decir que elimino mis preocupaciones para hacer la vida más avanzada. Debo tomarme el tiempo para buscar la comida eterna y la vida eterna.
• Mi fe en Jesús, como el don de Dios, el pan del cielo, es fundamental para mi comprensión y aceptación del "Don" que no pasa; el pan de la vida eterna.
• Nuestro Dios no está "ahí fuera". Él está dentro de no-sotros. Y estando dentro de nosotros, él es parte de nuestra vida diaria. Necesito recordar que el verdadero significado de mi existencia terrenal es en la eternidad. Es en el encuentro con él, que es a la vez Don y dador.

Thoughts on the Feast of the Transfiguration
On a crowded street corner in Louisville one day, Thomas Merton was waiting for the light to turn green. He was sud-denly overwhelmed with the realization that he “loved all these people”. That these people, whom he did not know, were his and that he was theirs. It was as if he had just woken from a dream of separateness.
The story of the Transfiguration is also a story about you and me, and Thomas Merton and Peter, James, and John, and Jesus.
There is a promise lying in front of us that a vision of the world and everything in it bathed in divine light is possible for us all. And that vision, once you see it, will change and transform your life forever. It may come in deep prayer or suddenly on a street corner. But the message is that in our busy, day to day, noisy life when everything seems dull and boring; there is a divine reality beneath the surface, and if you want to, if you take the time to pray for, that’s what we can see.
“Then it was as if I suddenly saw the secret beauty of their hearts, the depths of their hearts, where neither sin nor de-sire nor self-knowledge can reach, the core of their reality, the person that each one is in God’s eyes. If only they could all see themselves as they really are. If only we could see each other that way all the time.”
