Helping our neighbors affected by fires.
As the loss of life and property mounts due to the wildfires north of our Diocese, our
hearts ache for our sisters and brothers in the Santa Rosa Diocese. Please join with me in
praying for the dead and for those who are suffering, whether from physical injury or from the
loss of their homes and livelihoods. We also pray for the firefighters, medical personnel, social
workers and others who are aiding the victims and their loved ones.
I have spoken with Bishop Robert Vasa, the bishop of Santa Rosa. He is grateful for our
prayers, and is providing regular updates on his website: http://srdiocese.org/signofhope. He is
encouraging everyone to participate in a holy hour of adoration to pray for those affected and
for the fires to subside.
I ask all parishes to consider a special collection for the victims of the fires. Please select a
weekend to accommodate your parish’s calendar, and send the money per our usual process
for special collections. We will send immediately to the Santa Rosa Diocese.
Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa (http://www.srcharities.org/fire-recovery) is working
with other agencies to provide short-term and long-term support for victims. People who are
in shelters will need to find temporary housing while their homes are being rebuilt. Monetary
donations will be the most useful contribution to that work; you can find information on how
to donate at their website. They are also able to accept a limited number of the following
items: diapers, baby wipes, face masks, twin size blankets, toiletries, towels and warm adult
coats.
Catholic Charities is also in need of bi-lingual volunteers; you may call 707.528.8712, ext.
160, for more details. Sometimes people in shelters appreciate having someone willing to
listen and to pray with them. This ministry of presence is truly an act of mercy.

November is the month we remember those who are deceased. We will have our annual Mass of Remembrance for our departed loved ones on:

When the Saints
Come Marching In
November 1st is a Holy Day of Obligation commemorating all the saints, especially those without any specified feast day of their own. At the 7 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, November
1st, the children of our parish are invited to dress as
their patron saint, the saint whose name they bare or a saint special to them, process into the church as our cantor leads us in “When the Saints Go Marching in.”
Please encourage your children to participate in this special Mass. If you would like to know more about your patron and the costume please contact Sister Mary Anh at 510-347-1283.

2017 Thanksgiving Food Drive
The St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) conference request food donations from our parish family. The conference will hold a Thanksgiving parish wide food drive to assist families in our community. Donation boxes will be available in the church the weekend of November 11-12, 2017. We are seeking new, unexpired food items for Thanksgiving: canned pumpkin, fresh potatoes, stuffing, instant potatoes, turkey gravy, cran-berry sauce, assorted canned vegetables, jello, pudding, cake mix and frosting, cornbread muffin mix, rice, chicken broth, flour, sugar, fresh yellow onions, crack-ers.

COMPASIÓN Y JUSTICIA
Porque no somos perfectos ni en nuestro amor, ni en nada, Jesús vino con gran amor para enseñarnos
a amar. Con gran compasión, nos mostró cómo tratarnos unos a otros, tanto en sus enseñanzas como
con su vida, muerte y resurrección. Tenemos ante nosotros muchos ejemplos de quienes han vivido
esta ley de amor y de vida. Los tesalonicenses con su gran fe bajo condiciones difíciles fueron un
ejemplo para otros en su época. El Éxodo nos da muchos ejemplos de la forma en que hemos de tratar
a otros con justicia y compasión: no privaremos a otro de su único abrigo del frío, usaremos nuestros
recursos financieros para ayudar y no para oprimir a los demás. Éstos son sólo unos pocos ejemplos.
La ley no puede cubrirlo todo. Sólo el amor puede enseñarnos lo que debemos hacer. Sólo el amor.

1. Từ trưa ngày Lễ Các Thánh đến nửa đêm ngày Cầu cho các tín hữu đã qua đời, ai viếng nhà thờ, nhà nguyện, đọc một kinh Lạy Cha và một kinh Tin Kính, thì được hưởng một ơn đại xá, với những điều kiện theo thường lệ (xưng tội, rước lễ, cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng), nhưng phải nhường lại cho các linh hồn. Mỗi ngày được hưởng một lần mà thôi.
Ai bị ngăn trở, có thể viếng nhà thờ, nhà nguyện, lãnh ơn đại xá vào Chúa nhật trước hay Chúa nhật sau.
2. Từ ngày 01 đến ngày 08 tháng 11 này, các tín hữu thành kính đi viếng nghĩa trang, và dù có cầu nguyện thầm cho các linh hồn, thì cũng được hưởng một ơn đại xá, với những điều kiện theo thường lệ (xưng tội, rước lễ, cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng), nhưng phải nhường lại cho các linh hồn (trong tám ngày, mỗi ngày chỉ được hưởng một lần mà thôi).
3. Các ngày khác trong năm, khi đi viếng nghĩa trang và cầu nguyện cho các linh hồn, thì được hưởng nhờ ơn tiểu xá (Ench. Indulg., ấn bản 1999, concessio 29).
Cộng Đoàn Nữ Vương Hòa Bình chúng ta sẽ tổ chức Thánh Lễ vào lúc 11:00am Thứ Bảy ngày 4-11-2017 tại Nghĩa Trang Holy Sepulchre (26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544). Kính mời quý ông bà và anh chị em đến tham dự và viếng Nghĩa trang cầu nguyện cho các linh hồn những người thân yêu đã qua đời.
Kính mời quý ông bà và anh chị em đến tham dự giờ Chầu Thánh Thể và Thánh lễ vào thứ Sáu Đầu Tháng vào lúc 8:00 pm ngày 3-11-2017. Kính mời quý ông bà và anh chị em đến với Chúa Giêsu Thánh Thể.
Xin quý ông bà và anh chị em ghi tên những người thân yêu họ hàng đã qua đời vào cuốn sách cầu nguyện cho Các Đẳng Linh Hồn được để bên cạnh Giếng Rửa Tội và cây Nến Phục Sinh. Cuốn sách này sẽ được đặt trong nhà thờ để nhớ và cầu nguyện trong suốt tháng 11.
Ý nghĩa Kinh Kính Mừng
Ðọc Kinh Kính Mừng là ca ngợi Tình Yêu Thiên Chúa.Khi chúng ta đọc kinh Kính Mừng là chúng ta đã có một tình yêu vô cùng của Thiên Chúa trong công cuộc Nhập Thể, Cứu Chuộc và Thánh Thể Chúa Kitô. Nói chung, khi đọc Kinh Kính Mừng, chúng ta không ca ngợi một thụ tạo mà chúng ta ca ngợi tình yêu vô biên của Thiên Chúa, khi chính Ngôi Hai đã xuống thế làm người trong lòng đồng trinh Mẹ Maria. Sự Ngôi Hai Nhập Thể không phải là đem sự sống, tình yêu của Thiên Chúa cho nhân loại qua sự Phục Sinh của Chúa Kitô sao?
Mỗi Kinh Kính Mừng là một lời ngợi khen, tôn vinh, chúc tụng Thiên Chúa, cùng đền tạ tình yêu Thiên Chúa đã ban cho loài người trong công cuộc Nhập Thể, Cứu Chuộc của Thiên Chúa Ngôi Hai trong cung lòng Mẹ Maria. Ngợi khen, chúc tụng, tôn vinh Thiên Chúa và tình yêu Người đã thể hiện nơi Ngôi Hai trong cung lòng Ðồng Trinh Mẹ Maria, đền tạ tình yêu Thiên Chúa trong sự nhận biết Thiên Chúa yêu dấu loài người trong Ngôi Hai.
Ý nghĩa này phù hợp với sự tỏ Trái Tim Tình Yêu của Chúa cho nhân loại, nghĩa là nhận biết Thiên Chúa yêu chúng ta vô cùng trong Con Cực Thánh Người.
