WE DON’T GO ALONE
Jesus, the humble village carpenter, frequently attracted large crowds with his preaching.
A moment of apparent triumph and glory came when these same people in Jerusalem
acclaimed him as king, probably hoping he would be a new military leader and overthrow
the occupying Romans. This “triumph” was brief, however. In a few days the same crowds
turned on him. Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor, didn’t know what to make of him. Jesus
was obviously no common criminal. He spoke truthfully and was not cowed in Pilate’s presence. Yet Pilate
finally gave up and had Jesus put to death. Ever since that first Good Friday, those who pass through the
darkest nights know they don’t go alone. For each of us Jesus obediently and willingly entered the pain and
sorrow of humanity. He counted the milestones along the way of despair, and fell into the abyss of death.
There are no dead-end streets anymore. For us, at the end of every road, there shines the light of Christ.

NO VAMOS SOLOS

“”Like a Shepherd I will feed you; I will gather you with care. I will lead you and hold you close to my heart. We will run and not grow weary, for our God will be our Strength, and we
will fly like the eagle, we will rise again” Hymn “We Will Rise Again”
One of the ways we might instill hope for our care receivers, and work on a more intimate relationship with Jesus is to read and meditate on a hymn, psalm, or scripture passage taking time to savor each idea separately, thanking God for being our Shepherd who feeds us (His Body), for leading and loving us (holding us close to His heart), asking Him for His strength. Imagine what it would be like to “fly like an
eagle.” (Our resurrection possibly), and remembering that after death we will rise again in Christ. Further statements found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, copyright 1994, will help us better understand Christ’s Resurrection and ours. “By His death, Christ liberated us from sin, by His Resurrection He opens for us the way to a new life. This new life is above all justification that reinstates us to God’s grace, “so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Justification consists of both victory over the death caused by sin, and a new participation in grace.” #654
