(4) 4 | SETON Sunday News | Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 10/ 10 /2021. From Fr. How can we possess God’s wisdom?. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, The readings for this Sunday offer us a series of suggestions that can help us obtain the wisdom of God. God's wisdom is found in the Bible. The Bible is divine revelation, it is the wisdom of God. To know this wisdom and receive, you have to read the Bible; in this way we know the mind and heart of God. However, it is also necessary to desire the wisdom of God. We need to want it with all our heart, mind, and whole being. We need to be passionate about it. Desire is the engine that moves the will to want to know God and establish a relationship of friendship with Him. As a result, we obtain the gift of wisdom.. The first reading (Wisdom 7, 7-11) speaks of divine wisdom, exalted above all goods. Whoever asks for it, receives and values it. "I pleaded and the spirit of wisdom came to me." Wisdom is one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gift of wisdom is the grace to be able to see everything with the eyes of God: to see the world, the current reality, the problems, and everything with the eyes of God. It is the Spirit of God that works deep within the soul and moves it to seek the beauty of divine wisdom.. Another way of seeing the wisdom of God is found in the second reading (Hebrews 4, 12-13). Saint Paul was a great connoisseur of the Word of God. He tells us that 'the word of God is living and effective, sharper than a twoedged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit… able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” Divine wisdom reveals everything. It is the truth that makes you act with freedom and responsibility. Today, freedom is equated to licentiousness. Licentiousness is not the wisdom of God; it is human wisdom; whoever exercises it wishes to do what he pleases without responsibility. The Word of God forms the will of man to act in life with divine principles that guide us to always seek the good of all. It is about wishing the good of all people above mundane things.. Amen.. The spirit of wisdom moves us to seek divine things such as eternal life. In the Gospel (Mark 10, 17-30), we find the story of a man who approaches Jesus on his knees and asks: 'Good teacher, what must I do to achieve eternal life?' This person was very rich he had everything in life, but he was missing the most important thing: true happiness. This man expected a simple answer. When Jesus presents the conditions, the man rejects them and returns to his house feeling very sad. Wealth is good, but it can also be an obstacle to eternal life. "Then who can be saved?" Jesus tells us, "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God”, that is, whoever has the wisdom of God already lives in eternal life. Eternal life is living in communion with God and our neighbors, sharing material and spiritual goods unconditionally. This is divine wisdom and true happiness. Lord, teach us to desire divine wisdom and grant us the joy of your Spirit. Amen.. P. José Ugalde, MSpS. Fr. Jose Ugalde, MSpS.

(6) 6 | SETON Sunday News | Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 10/ 10 /2021. St Vincent de Paul Holiday Food Basket The Society of St Vincent de Paul will be distributing the annual Holiday food baskets to the many needy people in our community again this year. We expect to provide food for 30 families in our neighborhood for Thanksgiving and 60 families for Christmas. Due to the Covid Pandemic, we will not conduct a Holiday Food Drive this year. Like last year, we are again asking for monetary donations that will go directly to serving the needs of our neighbors. Donated funds will be used for grocery store gift cards and to offset the cost of the food basket items. Monetary donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and can be placed in the collection basket at Mass in an envelope marked “SVDP”. On-line donations may also be entered through the parish website by marking the donation “SVDP Holiday Food Baskets.” Through the gift of food, we are able to share God’s hope, love and mercy with these families. Please join us in praying that all of our neighbors will experience the hope and love of Jesus during this holiday season.. Cancer Bags Cancer bags provided by CDA will be available in the chapel. If you or someone you know is suffering with cancer, please take one. If you have any questions, please call Lois Raske, 425-481-9358.com..

(8) 8 | SETON Sunday News | Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 10/ 10 /2021. A WAITING HARVEST. Vocation Awareness. Practical Ideas for Discerning Diocesan Priesthood.. 11. Attend the Priesthood Ordination and Chrism Mass in your Diocese. Part I The ordination of a priest is one of the most beautiful and powerful liturgies in the Catholic Church. If you have never attended one, put this on your to-do list immediately. I have read in the autobiographies of many seminarians that attending an ordination greatly enriched their discernment, or even triggered them to begin discerning in the first place. One especially powerful moment occurs when the ordinandus (the man being ordained) prostrates himself face down on the floor of the cathedral while the people are singing the litany of saints. This man is laying down his life, literally, spiritually, and figuratively, for Jesus Christ and his Church! Everyone else in the cathedral, including the bishop, is kneeling, praying with the saints in heaven that this man will be a holy, faithful priest. Once the litany of saints is completed, the man comes to the bishop, and kneels before him. The bishop lays his hands on the man’s head in silence and then prays the required prayer of consecration. The choir often sings Veni Creator Spiritus (Come Creator Spirit). This man is now a priest forever. “To save a Thousand Souls” Fr. Brett A. Brannen. O Jesus, Our Eternal Pastor, Deign to look with merciful eyes Upon this part of your loving flock. Lord, we need a large number of priests, and men and women consecrated to the religious life. Multiply vocations, And sanctify more and more your priests, And those consecrated in the religious life. We ask you all this through the Immaculate Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, your sweet and holy Mother. Jesus give us priests according to your heart. Jesus, savior of all people, save them, save them!. This week please pray for Patrick Gitau Mbuiyu. He is originally from Nairobi, Kenya, and is a seminarian with the Archdiocese of Seattle. Patrick is taking College IV classes at Mt. Angel Seminary. Our parish is grateful to the many parishioners who. answered God’s call to serve others as good stewards of their talents. For those who are still discerning where they can best serve in our faith community, consider serving in just one ministry for one year. Many who serve in our parish have told us that they receive far more than they give in personal satisfaction and spiritual growth. We pray that you too might be blessed with joy through the sharing of your Talents. Please fill out the enclosed Talent/Ministry flyer (that was mailed, emailed, or inside bulletin), visit our website, or connect to our mobile friendly online portal where a list of ministries, detailed information about those ministries, and ability to sign up for a ministry is available. Prayer: In thanksgiving for all who have committed to sharing their talents and for all those discerning how to share their talents, let us pray to the Lord: R/..
